MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jeff Petrucci of Heiston Supply, Montie Hicks of BB&T, and Chris Colbert of United Bank have been named chairs for the West Virginia University Hospitals-East 2011 Bernie Hutzler Memorial Golf Classic. The annual golf classic will be held on Monday, June 6 at The Woods Resort.
This year’s tournament marks the first year that WVUH-East’s two golf tournaments are being
combined, explained Teresa McCabe, vice president of marketing and development. “In the past, we had two tournaments, the Jefferson Health Care Foundation Golf Classic in May and the City Hospital Foundation’s Gateway Golf Classic in June. Both golf tournament committees decided unanimously to combine the golf events this year and host one tournament to benefit both WVUH-East hospitals,” McCabe said.
Named in memory of WVUH-East Charter Board Director Dr. James “Bernie” Hutzler, the WVUH-East golf tournament will be held this year at The Woods Resort with registration at 10 am, lunch at 11 am and shotgun start at 12 noon. An awards reception will immediately follow play at The Woods Resort.
As in the past, money raised from the golf fundraiser will be used to purchase patient care equipment for both City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital. This year’s goal has been set at $50,000. To date, over $1 million in proceeds has been raised in support of the hospitals as a result of past golf tournaments.
Sponsorship and golfer information for the 2011 Bernie Hutzler Memorial Gateway Golf Classic was recently released, and committee members are now recruiting sponsors and participants. Sponsorship levels include the $5000 Presenting, $2500 Underwriting, $1000 Sponsor, $500 Patron and $200 Golfer.
